The environment and peoples livelihoods can not be sacrificed for corporate greed.

Waste Management has stated in their application for a new landfill in the west end of Ottawa.
“… we made our business decisions not to look at another site due to reason of investment in current site's infrastructure and operations, no other land owned/optioned elsewhere in Ottawa area and no ability to expropriate lands”…. This can be interpreted as … our business decissions not to look for the best site…
In both cases corporate decisions are based on “the best economic case” not the best environmental and social case. We must demand that big corporations respect their social responsibilities and the environmental integrity when they make corporate decisions.

WM providing questionable testing results in a US facility. Surrounding community of 1500 people has had 10 babies born with birth defects since 2007 as a result of suspected contamination from the site.
These are the guys that we are trusting to bring 400,000 tonnes of garbage into our community every year? Their PR spin on this new landfill site is pure BS.
Nice try WM, but we see you coming a mile away.......
