WASTE MANAGEMENT SAYS GARBAGE IS TOO VALUABLE TO BURY

 In recent new articles Waste Management top executives say that the garbage they collect every year is almost three times more valuable if converted to energy and chemicals than if it is dumped in the ground. David Stenier president and CEO says ;

“Our total revenue right now is about $13 billion, $14 billion. If we could take all that garbage you’re giving us—in fact, we’re charging you to pick it up—and separate it and sell it into the commodity markets, it would be worth about $10 billion to $12 billion. We could double our revenue if we sold it for its commodity value. But what we’re trying to do is find an up-value for it. Instead of just selling it for its basic value as a commodity, we’re trying to turn it into something more valuable—a specialty chemical, oil or energy.”

He also says that that there will be no landfill disposal within 10 years or sooner.
